FLOW PSYCHIATRY · HAROLD BURNS· PMHNP-BC
Mental healthcare, made for you.
Hello, I’m Harold Burns, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner specializing in ADHD, depression, anxiety, and transgender mental health.
Motivated to help you succeed
As someone with ADHD, anxiety, and depression myself, I know first-hand the challenges you face, and I’m passionate about helping you succeed.
Customized care
Meaningful care is more than just a quick series of questions and a prescription. Unlike other services that see you for only a few minutes and never get to know you, I take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your needs, and develop a treatment plan tailored to you. This can include medication, patient education, therapy, and coaching.
Diverse clinical experience
I’ve successfully treated hundreds of adults with ADHD including tech professionals, parents, and artists from all over California. During my residency at San Francisco’s VA Medical Center, I specialized in the unique needs of transgender veterans. At Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, I focused on those with limited access to care including inmates and unhoused communities.
Specialized training
I have a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of San Francisco and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Certificate from UCSF. I’m currently licensed to practice and prescribe in California.
As a new patient, you’ll have a full 75 minutes dedicated to you. This gives you ample time to share your concerns without feeling rushed. We'll review your social, professional, and life circumstances as well as your medical and family history.
Because we’re investing more time upfront, I can usually provide a diagnosis without an additional follow-up. In some cases, where your needs are more complex, we may need another appointment before I can fully diagnose and prescribe.
For follow-up visits, we’ll review the effectiveness of your medications and make adjustments if needed. I’ll also provide therapy, coaching, and education to support your treatment plan.
Book a follow-upFor follow-up visits, we’ll review the effectiveness of your medications. Together, we’ll decide on any changes based on your needs or concerns.
Book a follow-upFor your convenience, I accept all major credit cards as well as FSA and HSA cards.
I do not accept insurance, but you can apply your insurance to the cost of medications at the pharmacy, if you have prescription benefits. If your insurance covers out-of-network providers, such as a "PPO" plan, I can provide you with a “superbill” to submit for reimbursement.
Now accepting new patients.
